Here at Kairos Church, the fall is often an exciting season of new beginnings as we re-launch many of our regular opportunities for connection and discipleship. It’s always fun to come back together after summer travels, check-in on each other’s lives, and meet new people who tend to emerge as things get off to a fresh start. One of the most-loved traditions in our church community is our Church Picnic, which is a fun way to share a meal together right after the worship service on September 9th. Whether you are brand new to our community, or have been coming to Kairos for a long time, the picnic is a time to enjoy some unhurried conversation and get to know other people in our church community.
We as a staff have been in prayer about ways to cultivate connection and belonging in our church community. As our founding mission statement says, our church exists to “Encourage one another daily to follow in the way of Jesus.” We challenge new members to commit to encouraging others and to opening themselves up to be encouraged by others in our community. There are many ways to do this, but they all begin with intentionally opening up your lives to one another in a smaller group setting within the church.
We wanted to let you know that there are several opportunities for small groups, Bible studies, and classes that are happening this fall, and we invite you to take a step to pursue one of these opportunities for connection and spiritual growth. (Please see the more detailed announcements below for descriptions about the following groups):
Small Group Gathering, Sunday Sept 16
Women’s Morning & Evening Bible Studies
Men’s Bible Study
Theology of the Ordinary
Parenting through the Stages
The SOB’s (Slightly Older Bunch)
Each of these groups will provide avenues for studying scripture, praying together, and growing closer to a smaller group of people. One of the greatest longings of the human heart is belonging. We all need a safe space to be known and to feel at home. We need places to help us grow and become the people God created us to be. We need people in our corner who will encourage us and who will help carry our burdens. And we have the privilege of offering to others these same gifts we long to receive. We want you to know and experience the gift of Christian community for yourselves. If you have any questions about which group might be the right fit for you, do not hesitate to reach out. I would love to speak with you and help you find the right place to get started.
