Living in Community

Why should you join us for the church picnic?

A. You donā€™t have to decide where to eat lunch

B. Stewart, Eric, and Joe are cooking

C. Itā€™s a spring/fall tradition

D. All of the above

E. None of the above

The correct answer is D) All of the above. However, while A, B, and C are all accurate, the real reason you should join us is much more important.

We believe that an important part of following Jesus is doing life together, experiencing fellowship and breaking bread. Scripture provides a description of the activities of believers in the early church.

ā€œThey devoted themselves to the apostlesā€™ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.ā€ Acts 2:42

Our vision frame for Kairos outlines it this wayā€¦

Live – We wrestle in community with vulnerability and honesty, believing that God works through his people to restore one another from broken sinner into mature disciple. We seek reconciliation in geographic, political, theological, economic, life stage, and cultural diversity because it deepens our need for Jesus and broadens our understanding of the Kingdom. In all this, we desire to care for each other like Christ has cared for us.

Sharing meals and fellowship together is an essential part of our following Jesus and Living in Community. And no, even though the food and fellowship will both be awesome, sharing one picnic meal together will not make us into mature disciples but is an important step on the journey, not just for you but also for those with whom you share the meal.

So, join us on Sunday, May 6, following the worship service for our spring picnic, a Low-country Boil prepared by Stewart Teegarden, Eric Ragone, and Joe Ryan, some of our own ā€œchefs.ā€ There will be a shrimp-free version available for anyone with a seafood allergy or who simply prefers it. We will also have hot-dogsĀ and all the trimmings. Dessert and drinks complete the meal.

Please make your reservation by replying to the Paperless Post you received via email (check your clutter or spam folder) or contact Jan atĀ jan@kairosatlanta.org.

The suggested donation is $7 per adult and $3 per child (ages 3 ā€“ 12). There is no charge for children younger than 3. Please pay via text by texting key word KAIROS PICNIC $__ to 73256 orĀ online. Cash or check day of the picnic will also work. We do not want cost to keep anyone from attending, so please pay what you are able.

We hope you will join us!
