Clarkston Refugee Experience

Local mission experience with people who are refugees living in Clarkston, GA. Be transformed as you learn the refugee story, enjoy food with new refugee friends, and work together with refugees to build a flourishing community in Clarkston. All ages are welcome/family-friendly. The cost is $50 per adult, $10 per child (age 2 and older), $120 family/household maximum.

Friday, January 19, 2018, 6:00pm – 8:30pm, (Check-in begins at 5:30pm) at the Kairos building
Dinner, provided by a catering company owned by refugees, will be served, beginning at 5:45pm. Everyone will eat together.
Beginning at 7:00pm, Friends of Refugees’ (FOR) staff will lead an informative and engaging educational experience for teens and adults. Children, kindergarten and older, will have their own mission education experience, also led by FOR staff. Childcare will be provided for infants through pre-k.

Saturday, January 20, 2018, 9:00am – 2:00pm, in Clarkston
On Saturday morning, we will gather at Clarkston International Bible Church (1000 Rowland St., Clarkston, GA 30021) at 9:00am. After an informational tour of Clarkston and services provided by FOR, we will host a “winter party” for approximately 50 refugee children and their families. Our mission experience will conclude with a time of conversation and reflection over lunch at a local restaurant, operated by refugees. Saturday activities are appropriate for children kindergarten and older. Parents will need to arrange their own childcare for children younger than kindergarten; reimbursement for childcare up to $25 will be available upon request.
