Psalm 118 reminds us to, āGive thanks to the Lord for he is good; his love endures forever.āĀ As we enter into this week of Thanksgiving, and gather around our dinner tables to feast and celebrate in the company of family and friends, may we remember to give thanks to the One from whom all of these blessings flow. We thought this week you would be encouraged to hear some expressions of thanksgiving from our Kairos community.Ā Be sure to read to the end to hear what the kids had to say!
We hope you will join us this coming Sunday for our annual Thanksgiving service, where we will takeĀ time together in worship to express our gratitude to God corporately.Ā Come and share the ways you have experienced Godās grace, the ways that his presence has carried you through hardship, and the blessings he has bestowed upon you for which you are most grateful.
Here are some words of gratitude from our Kairos friends:
“I am thankful for the Kairos community. You have strengthened me in faith; supported me and my family through seasons of joy and wilderness; and encouraged me in my walk with Christ Jesus. I am truly blessed.”Ā Matt Freeman
āI am so grateful that no matter how unfaithful I am, God is always so faithful to me.Ā He continues his work in me every day and I canāt imagine a day without that.Ā He continues to give me a heart to serve others and to realize how precious each of his children are, and so they must be important to me.āĀ Maria Fejervary
“I am incredibly thankful to celebrate the baptism of our healthy and happy baby girl into the Kairos community surrounded by dear family and friends. Having a child is truly a miracle, one we did not think was possible for us, so every day with her I am reminded of God’s love and unending goodness. We are so grateful to have found Kairos as the place to raise our family to know and love Christ.”Ā Elizabeth Burdette
āI am thankful for theĀ when I was a kidĀ stories that our girls are developing for themselves. Their norms are influenced by what I believe are special experiences with friends, neighbors, family, school, and our church that we see starting to shape who they are. I’m most thankful for our interaction with them, how precious and sometimes challenging it can be, and how it makes us all grow.āĀ Stewart Teegarden
āIn this season of thanksgiving, God has shown me I donāt need to look any further than my household to be overwhelmed with gratitude. In the midst of messiness and frustrations that come with change, job pressures, raising children, schedules, household and competing priorities ā and even hormones as we await our second child ā I am thankful for the way God uses my spouse and the gift of marriage to live out genuine examples of Godās unconditional love, support and graceā (Col 3:12-14).Ā Emily Fehn
āIām thankful for my family, a wife that Iāve shared life with for forty-three years, two wonderful daughters who are raising my four grandchildren in faith and a love of God, and a couple of sons-in-law who love their wives and children.āĀ Paul Cropley
“I am thankful for the ways God has shown me Himself through a sweet year of marriage, the joy of my children, the beauty of nature, and daily provision; I am also challenged to thank Him for the ways he has shown me Himself through challenges, assuring me that HeĀ is my faithful Sustainer, Provider, Helper, and Friend. So grateful for Jesus!”Ā Lindsay Fluker
Thoughts on Thanksgiving from a few of our children:
āI have to say thank you a lot. My mommy tells me to.ā
āIām thankful for my mommy and my daddy. Theyāre always thankful for me.ā
āIām thankful for my mama, my daddy, my sister, my nana and poppy, my dog. Iām thankful for my toys and stuff.ā
āItās important to be thankful because we have all these things, and some people donāt even have any clothes or food. Some people donāt have a place to live.ā
āIām thankful for my mom and dad and my brothers. Iām not always thankful for my brothers because sometimes they make me mad.ā
āHmm, well, you have to be thankful because itās Thanksgiving. I meanā¦thatās what itās about.ā
