Joining God’s Work in the World

On Friday, a team from Kairos will be heading back to Haiti for a six day trip of serving alongside our ministry partner, Haiti Outreach Ministries.  While they are away (January 25-30th), we ask that you pray for the many ways God can use an experience like this to cultivate relationships and reveal the heart of Christ.  We will look forward to having them back and sharing stories from their experience on Sunday, February 3rd in worship.

For three weeks, February 17th through March 3rd, Kairos will have a mission and service emphasis season where our worship services will express our value of JOINING God’s work in the world.  The preaching series will reflect themes of mission, outreach, and service.  We will highlight our ministry partners, share stories, and reveal future opportunities of how we as a church can be active and engaged.  Our hope is that these three weeks of emphasis will help us continue to grow in our individual and collective lives of discipleship.

Isaiah 58:7-9 continues to be a passage of scripture that both confronts and inspires me:

Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

Let us ponder together what it looks like to be a community that desires to offer help, healing, and compassion to others, as we too are in need of receiving our own healing.
