Kairos Community,

As we are all abundantly aware, the current health crisis connected to the spread of COVID-19 has impacted our lives in many ways.  This includes the closure of schools and most places where people gather socially.  Kairos has decided to follow the current recommendation by state officials and not host Sunday morning service (click here to read Drew’s letter).  We will not gather in body, but we can still gather in spirit to worship and proclaim God’s sovereignty and goodness.

Below we have provided you with a simple order of service to help you worship tomorrow.  We encourage you to set aside 30-40 minutes (around 10:30 am) for a time of worship, prayer and reflection on God’s Word.  For followers of Jesus, Sunday worship is an anchor point in our week that we use to frame and orient our lives.  The current health crisis only increases our need to frame our lives upon the way of Jesus, and we pray that this simple service outline helps you continue to place your faith and hope in Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship
We’ve come to worship God,
who makes streams flow from rock,
who turns the parched earth into springs of water,
who sends the rain from heaven
and makes the wilderness blossom and flourish.

Passing the Peace 
Worship is never an individual exercise. It is always in response to God’s reconciling work in the world. As a way to remember and be encouraged that we worship as the Church, we invite you to virtually “pass the peace.” Simply post a picture of what church looks like for you today with the caption “Peace be with you” and the hashtag #kairosatlanta.


Guided Prayer
Adoration—We praise you that you are our refuge and strength, our very present help in times of trouble (Ps. 46:1). We praise you that you are our rock, in whom we take refuge, our shield and the horn of our salvation. You are our stronghold, our refuge, and our salvation.  You are worthy of our praise (2 Sam 22:3-4).

Spend some time lifting up your praises to the Lord. 

Confession—Lord, we confess before you our tendency to fear, and to focus on our circumstances instead of your presence, provision, and power. Lord, we ask for forgiveness for our self-reliance, and the ways that we try to solve our own problems without looking to you first.  Lord, we ask that you forgive us for looking to our own needs and desires at the expense of those around us.

Spend some time in silence, confessing before the Lord the things that are on your heart.

Thanksgiving—Lord, your word reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6-7).

We take some time to lift up to you the many reasons we have to give you thanks.  Would you bring to mind the many blessings you’ve poured into our lives. 

Hear now our prayers of thanksgiving.

Supplication—Gracious God, we thank you for giving us the gift of prayer–a way that we can enter into your presence, lay before you our fears and anxieties, and be filled with your peace that is able to guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.  We thank you that you invite us to pray about every situation, and that you also promise to hear us when we call out to you.

We now lift up the prayer requests that are on our hearts.  We also take some time to pray for people in our world who are vulnerable, people who need your healing, deliverance, and a sense of your presence today.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Offering Prayer

Almighty God,

We come to you this morning grateful for your abundance. We are thankful for the invitation and ability to worship you. We are filled with gratitude for the small ways we can feel connected as your Church even as we are unable to gather together. But Lord, in this season when the faithful decision truly is to “play it safe,” when suddenly we find ourselves “free” from so many obligations on our time, we ask that you give us the courage not to turn inward but to allow your Spirit to move us to look outward. For God, there is no greater act of faith in this moment than the small and large ways we can choose to be boldly generous with our money, time, service and prayers. Which is why we pray for these tithes and offerings in the power of that name, the name above all others, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
